January Abduction Arrest Nets Prison Sentence

Troy James Queen, 48, of Scappoose on Thursday pleaded guilty in Columbia County Circuit Court to unlawful use of a weapon, coercion and interference with making a police report in a case involving a 48-year-old woman from Clatskanie.

On Jan. 8, Columbia County sheriff's deputies responded to a Clatskanie residence, where the woman told deputies she met Queen through an online dating service and that they had met several times. After a day spent on the Oregon Coast, the woman said Queen pulled a gun on her, fired a shot in the air, threatened her with the gun and then struck her in the face.  Deputies caught up with Queen and arrested him on charges of kidnapping, coercion, menacing, unlawful use of a weapon, interfering with making a report and possession of methamphetamine.

At Thursday's hearing, Queen's remaining charges were dismissed and he was sentenced to 18 months in prison with credit for the time served in jail since his January arrest.
